thanksgiving week

for thanksgiving week curtis had the whole week off. we found out that vaughn wouldn't be home friday or saturday to go to utah with us, so on macies birthday (saturday 20th) we headed out to utah to visit vaughns brother and his family. it turned out to be good driving conditions pretty much all the way there. after we got there we found out that we brought the flu with us. i was so frusterated and i felt so bad. we passed it to about 27 people. luckily my kids were over it before thanksgiving so we were able to enjoy the eating part of it. vaughn managed to get to utah on thursday morning! so excited!!! friday we decided we needed a trip to salt lake to go to the temple. we've been to temple square several times just never inside the temple. it was soooo beautiful!!!! a whole new experience!!! we went back to the house after that and got dinner and the kids and went back to salt lake to temple square to see the lights. that was so amazing too! kids loved it, i loved it! it was quite cold, i'm just glad it wasn't windy or snowing or anything. we drove back home saturday morning just in time to miss the snow fall at home that started just as we pulled off the freeway in nampa, its the one that covered the roads and cars that day. it was a nice visit but i was glad to be home again where i could sleep more than 7 hours at a time.

wow i'm a little bit of a slacker... thats why i have facebook ;)

so since febuary...macie has gone from 3 months to 9 months. she has almost a 4th tooth coming through. thats only since last month that shes gotten almost a 4th tooth with another showing up. she went from rolling to scooting crawling and now walking. at about 8 1/2 months she took her first steps and just over the last couple days has been more consistantly taking 2-6 steps at a time. she also waves hi and bye to certain special people. and says just a few words. you have to listen closely to hear them. words like da da and bye and ba ba and ya. she climbs anything she can get on to herself. (which drives me crazy) she follows curtis and ari all over the house!

ari has finally been potty trained!!!!!! yay for ari!!! that actually happened a few months ago. right around april or beginning of may. she turned 3 and about that time admitted to what she knows like a few colors and shapes. before i had no idea what she knew. now its just getting her to learn the letters. she won't admit to remembering anything! she started riding a two wheel with training wheels bike! so now we need to get curtis a new bike cause his old one is going to ari.

curtis will be 5 in 8 days!!! he finished preschool able to read short words and count pretty well. he decided during the summer he was going to practice riding a bike without training wheels. he did pretty good at that til i wanted him to ride his bike a little more so i put the training wheels back on. he also started kindergarten last week. his first day was aug 16th. he loves it! he loves riding the bus to school too. he gets on the bus at the corner right outside the back of our house. he only has half day kindergarten but i guess that works. his teacher seems like she will do really well with him.

vaughns work is still going! still out of town.. right now they are working in chubbuck (near pocatello) they are hoping to be done there september or october. after there they have a job to do in meridian. vaughn says that one won't take very long. hopefully long enough to find a job close to home. i'm so tired of being a single parent all week. but for now they have been getting fridays off so he gets home late thursday nite! i think he got a raise in april or may. so nice!! he also just seeded the back yard so hopefully in the next week or two i will have more grass than stickers!

as for me i still stay home about half the time taking care of the kids. in may i had found out i was pregnant again. macie was 6 months but after the feelings i had about another and lots of praying i was excited for it. by july things were feeling different. i ended up losing it in july. 8 weeks along. that came just after praying that if i was going to lose it just to let it go so i wouldn't have more time to get attached to it and make it harder emotionally for me. i felt like it wasn't going to stay and my body was working on getting rid of it. it was sad a couple days after it happened but for what really happened i'm ok with it. i'm sad that i don't get to know who it was that i lost but feel like there was a good reason for it. vaughn says we are done with having kids. i tell him we will wait and see over the next year or two. anyway i have lots of pictures to put up eventually when i get them off my phone and to the computer. so keep an eye out for those!

macie is 3 months old now and i realized i didnt have any family pictures that had her in them too so i asked my mom to get a picture for us. macie is cooing a lot now and she smiles at almost everyone. we just put her in her own room too. shes doing pretty well with the change on that. she just started liking a few toys too. macie can almost roll from her back to her stomach. i have to hold her hip so she can get over. shes starting to hold her own bottle if given the chance.

curtis is starting to read! its amazing! he can sound out several words. if they have an "e" on the end he doesn't understand those yet but thats coming soon. school has been really good for him. when he starts kindergarten in august he will be close to being ahead i think.

ari still has no motivation to use the potty. i have always been told training girls was easier than potty training boys. too bad they all didn't know ari. maybe one of these days before macie potty trains ari will too.

vaughn is still working out of town in shelly by idaho falls. its sad that hes always gone but one of these days he might be working locally again.

dec 27th was macies blessing day. i wanted to do it close to christmas in hopes that family would be in town and able to be there for it. we did end up with a pretty good turn out. about 25 people at the church and closer to 20 for dinner. i didn't think we'd have enough food but it turned out ok. and macie was a very calm baby all day for it. slept threw her blessing and most of sacrament. tolerated being passed around very well.

macie is 1 month old today! in her first month she has learned to drink, sleep, mess her diaper... lol the obvious things. but she has also smiled a couple times. giggled once, figured out that her feet make her move, her thumbs will help sooth her a little while shes waiting on a bottle. she knows that diaper changes are a good thing. she usually doesn't cry about them. shes learning a lot about faces and people. she has also found her voice. she will wave to certain people if they say hi to her.

i have learned a 3rd isn't a whole lot harder than a 2nd. shes a very good baby and for the most part right now easy to take care of. she usually sleeps at nite between 4-7 hours at a time. she may look a little like ari did but doesn't act or sound like her. i am very grateful for that!!! macie actually cries when she wants something. ari went straight to screaming. she didn't cry for the first several months.

we had a family christmas party with my dad's brothers and sisters the day after thanksgiving. santa showed up and brought treat bags for everyone. ari screamed. curtis was anxious and had a hard time waiting his turn and macie slept threw it.

macie was born nov 20th at 558 pm weighing 8 lb 7 oz and 20 inches! labor and delivery wasn't bad at all! it actually wasn't very painful and all in all wasn't very long either. i got to the hospital at 730 but things werent' even started til around 10. then it was delayed by 11 cause the epidural wouldn't be available til 1. by 2 we had the epidural and meds for contractions going again. stubborn little girl, wouldnt stay put when they were checking on dialation so the drs didnt wanna break the water in case the cord tried coming first. it would have caused emergency c section. so outta safety for both of us we waited til after 5 when things were a little closer to happening on their own. contractions were coming in groups of 3 lasting about 4-5 minutes but i wasnt feeling most of them. so also by 5 or 530 they seperated to 1 at a time. dr came in and broke water when i had gotten to a 9. 10 minutes later she was out! no stitches for me! i even got to cut the cord again. she started breathing right away but didn't want to cry. she didn't really cry until they started giving her shots after she was about an hour old.

she has black hair and brown eyes for now! i just saw the color of them today finally. she is very strong and has been picking her head up to look around.

after a few hours one of my legs was awake and i needed to go pee, but the other was still dead asleep. i had help to get to the toilet and then had to tell the nurses that i didn't feel good and felt like throwing up. then i almost passed out. they got me back to the bed and laid it down flat and kept me awake with amonia, nasty stuff!!! and got me feeling better again by fanning me. they said it was from the epidural wearing off and getting up too soon. it took 9 hours for my leg to wake up from being asleep from the epidural. i think it was a side effect from the epi i had with ari. that dr hit a nerve. the one for macie did an awesome job! didn't hit a nerve and did things pretty quickly.

my induction date is set for friday the 20th if she hasn't shown herself by then. i almost don't think she will wait that long. we are in our new house now, its not organized yet but its livable. we went to our new ward, new building. maybe when we find the camera is when we will take pictures of the new house and of macie when she comes.

we signed on our house yesterday!!! we will move in as soon as we get a phone call tonite! we are just waiting for it to be recorded and funded and as soon as that happens i will go in and clean it a little and hopefully be able to sleep there tonite! i will put up pictures when i get them taken.

we are almost ready to close on a house! its been a crazy process but i think its actually gonna happen now. we've been serious about buying for several months and finally got our credit high enough to be taken seriously. we realized how fast we would have to get things moving when we got word of our apartments being taken over by the bank. and then we ended up without a house to move into since we didn't want to rent when we were looking at houses and putting offers on houses. i tried so hard to stay in our ward for church but i guess thats not where we need to be anymore. its really very sad to me. but i think we found the perfect house for us. after we close on it i'll post the address or put it on facebook. but its 1400 sq ft with 4 bedrooms 2 bathrooms and fenced back yard. two car garage, and a possibility of making a 5th bedroom. its amazing what things fall into your life at different times!

crazy nite

so last nite, early this morning about midnite i woke up with very bad pain under my ribs. couldn't hardly move or breathe or anything. i eventually called the hospital to ask about the pain. i told them i am 36 weeks pregnant and where it hurt. they asked if i had any contractions. i didn't notice any at the time so i said no. they told me to come in if the pain didn't go away soon. so i tried to go back to sleep and i started feeling contractions mostly in my back. i started timing them, 3 minutes apart! thats never happened to me! so i let them continue for about 30-45 minutes then decided it was time to go be checked out to make sure things were either gonna stop or really get going. i was in the hospital for about 4 hours. with contractions anywhere between 2 minutes apart to about 7 or 10 minutes apart. i still got sent home cause they weren't doing anything but being a pain. i didn't figure i had too much stress that would actually try to cause labor. at least they didn't try to stop the contractions! she said i'm far enough that if baby wants to come, she can. but still so far no baby and very few contractions right now.

ok so at my last dr appt the dr measured the baby and said she was measuring small. and was last month too. so she ordered an ultrasound. i had that ultrasound today and these are the two pictures she gave me. the top one is the profile, the bottom one is the face. shes looking at you. look close you'll be able to see it. i will find out on thursday what the dr thinks about it. i don't think shes small but if she is, its cause i asked for a small baby.

i have been wishing and wondering how i was gonna get some half pint jars and some pears. i wanted to turn it into pear sauce for macie when she comes. i ended up talking to the right person, wende!!! she said she had some extra quarts and i mentioned i needed half pints, she told me she thought she still had some empty ones so she gave me those! then a little while later she called me and told me she was just offered pears. so she gave me pears too!! i was so excited! i used almost half of what she gave me the other day and got 10 half pint jars of pear sauce for macie. so each jar will give me 2-4 feedings when she starts eating! all for the cost of my time, the lids and a little bit of power! i'm so excited!

so curtis has been going to school now since the 26th is when he actually started. he loves it, they get to color a lot of papers. they have spent lots of time learning the letter Ii. they just started the letter U. they've been practicing writing and following the dotted lines. they also practice coloring inside the lines too. curtis has come along ways with all of those. the first few days of school ari would cry when we left. now curtis tells me to leave and ari just walks out the door without much more thought. she does have a hard time at home without him here. she clings to me and i cant get anything done. she forgets how to play or maybe she doesn't know how to play without curtis here.
i am very grateful for raydene bauer, she watched ari for 5 hours and curtis for almost 2 hours today so i could get the canning done today. the kids had fun over there and were asking to go back. in a couple days probly...
monday i canned the peaches, with some help, that i got from the orchard saturday. i got a bushel of peaches and with using almost all of them i got 12 pints and 20 quarts. my dad got a bushel of peaches and with what he wanted to can, got 21 quarts done today. it went so much faster today even with 1 person less than yesterdays. we took 5 hours monday to do mine and 3 hours today to do my dads. and better yet, every jar sealed. last year there were a few that didn't.
for my birthday this year, it was a few weeks ago, vaughn bought me a new ring to add to my wedding ring. its just a small band of little diamonds. its very pretty though. i got it saudered (connected) to my other one. now i just need to wait til christmas so i can even it out with one more just like it. plus i got a kitchen aid mixer a few weeks early which has been great!!
curtis had his birthday the week after mine, his was a lot of fun too. we had my parents and sister over for lunch and cupcakes and to open his presents, after they went home we went to chuckie cheeses to play for awhile. for the majority of the 1st batch of 100 tokens they rode rides and got very few tickets. so i bought some more tokens and got lots more tickets so they could get a few prizes. they have added lots more games and rides there this year. we went several months ago and they really didn't have much to do. this time there was lots!
oh and cant forget how the family is actually doing... for the pregnancy- i'm at 31 weeks this week, i'm starting to feel like i'm towards the end because its getting harder to do things and my back and stomach are getting sore. vaughn likes to make fun of me for the way i walk.. i figure i have the right to walk funny, shes getting bigger. oh and i don't remember if i've mentioned her possible name yet. so far its macie. we haven't agreed on the middle name for sure yet. but probly something like mikay or mikayla. vaughn is working in ashton id right now. they are hoping to be done there by the end of the week and move on to idaho falls next week. hes still coming home on the weekends so i get at least 1 full day with him. curtis is just going to school like i've already mentioned and ari is having withdrawls of him like i've already mentioned as well.

curtis is starting preschool on the 24th!! i cant believe hes old enough! only by a couple days. if he were two days younger he wouldn't be starting this year. i loved school shopping for supplies, i didn't realize how expensive things get when you have to get very much. i've heard from others that have to buy a lot more for several kids instead of just pencils, a box, erasers and scissors. its crazy what they need. i found out he needs a lunch box too! i told him we get to go pick one out. i'm excited about that til i see the prices. he will be at school everyday for 4 hours. it will be good for him and ari is gonna go crazy! she hates when hes gone.

vaughn is in pocatello right now working :( at least he has a job thats paying the bills. this is the start of his 3rd week. he leaves from home sunday afternoons and stays til friday afternoon. hopefully they will get done with what they've gotta do over in east idaho soon! theres a few job locations over there.

curtis made it threw lessons without getting kicked out. he didn't pass to the next level though. which doesn't really surprise me. but the last day he did go down the slide on the teachers lap and then thanked her for it. but he insists he will never do it again. thats ok at least he tried once.

this week makes 24 weeks pregnant... that makes 3rd trimester right?? i cant remember but anyway its getting closer!!! she is moving a lot, although today not so much yet.. theres only one name that feels like it might stick so far. we don't know how long it will sound right to us. we both came up with macy. curtis will tell people now that hes getting a baby sister, or that he will have two little sisters. he always wants to feel the baby. he likes it, ari not so much. she wants nothing to do with a new baby of her own. at least not yet.

last week, me and the kids took a trip to arco. its a little tiny town out by craters of the moon. (its a little bigger than picaboo) anyway, my bro and his family live there. i decided it was a good time and good idea to take a short trip before this baby comes and makes traveling harder. we headed up friday morning once curtis was done with the last swim lesson. it took 3 1/2 to get there. not so bad. we stopped in boise for a toilet break and then in carey; only an hour left of the trip. after we got there and got lunch, we all went to idaho falls cause john (my bro) had a meeting and davian (his wife) was still at work so i had 4 kids to watch at the park where he dropped us for an hour. i'm not used to watching 4 kids so it was a little bit of a challenge. plus when i'm at the park with my kids, they don't usually get an hour to play. but it was all ok. the trip to idaho falls was another hour drive... the next day up there was atomic days, its a huge deal over there. they have a huge parade and fair and stuff. its pretty cool. just before the parade started, an airplane flew over the parade route and dropped a whole bunch of ping pong balls. each worth 50 cents if you took them to the sheriffs office. i caught one, a few minutes later a kid walked by and gave me two more and at the end of the parade one of the police cars in it gave us two more. plus lots of candy from all the floats. it was pretty great! i took my camera to get pictures of our little weekend over there but didn't manage to remember to pull it out. maybe if i go back again in a couple weeks like the kids want then i will take a few pics..

the new baby is...

A GIRL!!! our third is a girl. we don't have any names yet. probly not for a little while. shes very active and looks like shes developing just fine... other than that i don't know what else to say about it.

curtis is in swim lessons now and hes really not doing so great. hes afraid of the water and won't listen to a thing the teacher says for him to do. i'm hoping they dont kick him out of the class for his resistance.

there has been so many times during the last couple weeks curtis has really shown me that he is not a baby anymore. he is a big boy now.

he has decided he likes a clean house and hes trying to keep his room clean. he has been wanting to take the garbage out all by himself and usually we walk down to the dumpster with him to lift the bag in. i didn't go with him yesterday. the bag was full but not heavy and he carried it to the dumpster and lifted it in all by himself. i was so surprised he could reach! he also decided he likes showers. both curtis and ari got sooooo muddy and dirty. they found a mud puddle to play in. i put ari in the shower first and she screamed the entire time. curtis told her that he likes showers. hes a big boy. i left the shower running while i got her diaper on her and curtis climbed in and got right under the water to start getting rinsed and wet. after getting wet enough he stepped out of the water so i could wash him and then stepped back under to get rinsed. all without the slightest hint of fear of the water. he even rubbed his hair to get some soap out. he decided he was done so he got out and dried and dressed.

it may not seem like a lot to most but its amazing to see how my little baby has grown.

ari's "surgery"

ariana had her 2 year check up shortly after her birthday in may. it all went well she is growing like she should be. then the dr looked in her ears. he said it looked like she had a piece of plastic next to her ear drum. one of the nurses brought in a bottle of water and sprayed it in her ear to try to get the "thing" out. didn't work so he told us to make an appointment at the ENT (ear nose throat) place down the hall. when that appt came, the dr looked in her ear and asked if she had an ear infection lately. i told him it had been a couple months. he said her ear drum probly burst and in healing it left a piece of infection that mineralized and became basically an ear booger but it needed to be removed anyway. he prescribed ear drops so we used those and went back for a check up a week later. it was still in her ear so she was scheduled for "surgery". the 12th we went to the treasure valley hospital and they got all the paper work done and finally took her back to give her laughing gas and put her to sleep so they could safely pull the booger out without her squirming. it ended up being just a glob of wax and she was out for about 5 minutes and then allowed to wake up. the nurse said usually kids cry coming out of being asleep. not ari, she smiled and looked around and within a couple minutes i had her back and gave her a glass of milk since she was so hungry and theres been no problems since then. she still doesn't listen so the ear wax wasn't the problem with her listening to me ;)

may and early june updates

wow its been awhile. lots has happened since the end of april. ariana had a birthday which makes her 2 already! i can't believe shes already 2. her birthday was may 19th. we had a little birthday party for her. my dad came over that morning and brought her a couple gifts, a little later we had her cake decorated by jen. it was awesome, we looked at a picture of "my little pony" and had it drawn on the cake. vaughn got called for a job interview so he got up and left for that. a couple hours later i got a call and he told me that he has a job and is going to take a drug test and then off to work. kind of put a damper on her birthday to me a little. but a couple hours after that he called again and said he was on his way home and said he will start work in the morning instead. works for me. that evening my mom came over to see ari, didn't have much for her then but just to say hi. a little after that vaughns family came over to see her too plus have dinner and cake and watch her open presents. i think she had lots of fun.

so vaughn got a job as i mentioned earlier, its another pipe laying company. bodiford construction... hes been laying pipe for 3 years. he likes it i think. the only thing with this company is that hes getting so many hours that he may not be able to go to school during the summer. if thats the case he will try for school again this fall.

we had been hired to mow the yards at our apartments and to keep it looking nice around here. this year we got tired of spending 3 hours pushing a mower around. so we bought a riding mower from campbell tractor. its a john deere dealer. we finally had it delivered the 2nd of june. its so nice. we can get done mowing in about 2 hours now without being sooo tired. in the deal to mow, it makes is so we only owe 5 a month for rent! as long as all the mowing money goes to rent.

right now i'm about 17 1/2 weeks pregnant. almost half way!! but i feel the baby move now. vaughn can even feel it move once in awhile. its great. we will hopefully find out in a couple weeks what it is. pretty sure its a girl but i still wanna know for sure.

where do i start?

so curtis has one more day of school. may 1st will be his last day. he has loved it and i recommend that if any of you want to put your 3 to 5 year old in it that you email the lady asap and let her know. he spent lots of time at school learning about animals. he learned about stars and space and aliens to go with it. he learned about a farm and sports. they used lots of paper plates to make their crafts. they painted with their fingers and brushes. they put bracelets and necklaces together. they learned about trains. the students that were taking care of the little students read lots of stories to them.

i had an ultrasound to get a due date. the official due date they wanna use is november 12th! it was a little closer than i thought. i thought it would be about the 19th. i'll take the 12th though. there is definately one baby. i was kind of hoping for two just so i wouldn't have another pregnancy. most of the time i feel pretty good now but sometimes my hunger gets out of hand and i start feeling pretty sick.

the mowing season has started. vaughn mows the yard for our apartments and gets paid for it. we are not professional but it gets the job done. if anyone wants to help us out, you could hire us for your yard mowing. we are trying to come up with a riding mower since we have an acre and a half to do with a push mower. it takes 3 hours to mow then to go around to weed eat.... its a long job. but its gonna pay our rent for a few months.

curtis is in sumbeams at church as most of you know or could have guessed. he gave his first talk a month ago or so and has been so incredibly anxious to do it again. he gets another chance on sunday. he wants to go up during fast and testimony meeting.

i heard from shelly from church that two different high schools were putting on a play school for kids ages 3-5 or 6. i signed curtis up for the one at colombia(?). anyway its on amity. today is his first day. we found the room without too much trouble and we walked in and took his coat off and handed the permission form to the teacher and went to see what the other kids were doing. didn't even look back to say bye. i think the confidence of walking in and not looking back comes from his years in church classes. in nursery they walk into class and after awhile don't look back. thats what this class reminded me of. i think it had the whole set up of a good preschool. i went to pick him up today and he didn't wanna come with me. he wanted to stay and play a little longer. lots of other little kids there were excited to see their moms. curtis didn't come running or say hi when i walked it. its crazy how other kids reaction is so much different than curtis. he excited to go back tomorrow.

no body likes to be sick!

we've had way too much sickness going around! last sunday nite to monday nite i was sick. i was throwing up too much and hurt too much so i went to terry reilly's and they gave me an iv and a pain killer shot and an anti-puke-y shot and then sent me to the hospital. while waiting for my turn to be seen, me and vaughn got a call from my mom who was watching the kids saying that ari was sick with a high fever and needed help. so vaughn went and got her and my mom kept curtis for the nite. she was admitted to the er too. i got called back before she had been seen by triage so she was brought back by vaughn with me and she got taken care of a couple hours before she would have been other wise. her fever ended up being a really bad ear infection. my throwing up ended up being the flu and morning sickness that lasts all day. they did blood tests and an ultrasound. baby is just 1 and is where it belongs. ari will not eat or drink anything unless its totally her idea. she wouldn't take tylenol at the hospital so they gave her a shot in her leg to help with the infection. now a couple days after all that, my stomach still hurts from being pregnant and curtis decided his stomach hurts too and he also complained of his ear. i took him to see a dr and while waiting to get his ear irrigated so the dr could see the ear drum he threw up. so curtis goes back tomorrow to get his ear checked and so does ari, she gets her ear checked tomorrow morning too. hopefully all is well. i just felt like complaining about all of us being sick. vaughn isn't taking it real well. he doesn't like taking care of everyone while we're being sick. all well almost over it i hope.

i went to terry reillys yesterday and got an official pregnancy test done so i could get a dr appt. just as i thought, they told me i'm 6 weeks pregnant. (probly 7 now) and the due date they gave me from that is still nov 5th. on the 15th of april i should be able to get an ultrasound to get a more accurate date.

we are adding to the family. we don't know what it is yet obviously since i'm only 6 weeks along. due around november 5th 2009! curtis has been telling me theres more than one baby so i guess in a couple weeks i will find out! we have no preference of how many or the gender since we already have one of each. i'll keep it updated a little i hope.

december is busy!

so now that december is almost over, it has been very busy. we learned cpr, we've been to a couple of christmas parties. my parents went to storage unit autions and we helped them empty them. i think most exciting so far, before christmas anyway, is a new niece was born into the durfee side of the family. vaughns sister had her 2nd baby, which is a girl they named kimberly renee. she was a c section delivery because of the way she was positioned. she had her butt down and her feet up by her head in the ribs of the mother. 7 pound baby was a good size for her. i drove gramma to see the baby and while staring at the baby through the window of the nursery, kimberly kept putting her feet up to her head again to fall back to sleep. she wasn't wrapped in a blanket yet obviously but she is so tiny. eventually i think i'll get a good picture of the christmas tree up here. its still not completely decorated.

ok i took a friends advice and started a blog, i've never ever done a blog before so i'll learn and get better eventually i guess. to start with i guess i'll introduce just a little more about the family. as of now and hopefully for awhile longer theres just the 4 of us. as the title suggests tvca means teresa vaughn curtis ariana. right now ariana known as ari is 18 months, curtis is 3 and i stay at home with them, well maybe not at home but i take care of them. vaughn still works construction. who knows how much longer he will be working for the winter. usually hes laid off by now. if friends want to see more, i do have a myspace page, the title of that is about the same as this title. i post pictures to that quite often.
